2026年開催個展スケジュール

​ パッチワークに出会った10歳よりも、もう少し幼かった頃。

四角の布をつなげる縫い方を、母に習ったことを覚えています。ハギレをしまうためのお菓子の缶の中には、分けてもらったほんの数本のまち針とぬい針、白い糸、お気に入りだった糸切りのペンダント。何度か開いては縫ったものの、とうとう完成させることはできませんでした。今思い出すのは、褪せた色合いの布と、指先に握った針の感触です。

意識せずに続けているこの縫うという行為が、いったい私にとって何であるのかは未だ明確に述べることはできませんが、その中で生まれるいくつかの作品が見る人の心を動かす表現であればと​願っております。

​It was slightly before when I was 10 years old, enrolling in a patchwork class.

​I remember that my mother taught me how to sew pieces of cloths squarely together. In a candy box, there were a few town needles and sewing needles, white threads, and my favorite trimming pendant. While I tried to sew the cloths with those equipment several times, I couldn’t complete sewing at last. Just now, what remains to me is the texture of old cloths and the touch of needles.

​Whether it is chance or necessity, I find myself having continued to sew consequently ever since the first encounter. I cannot clearly define what is sewing for me so far, but I cannot stop sewing as well.

アメリカ・インディアナ州生まれ。静岡県浜松市にて育ち、現在は愛知県在住。浜松学院大学短期大学部幼児教育学科修了。絵や工作を楽しむ幼少期を過ごし、10歳でパッチワーク教室に通い始める。布と糸の柔らかな素材に魅了され2013年よりアート作品の制作を始める。

Kaho is an artist of sewing. I was born in Indiana, and grew up in Shizuoka, Japan. From my childhood, I enjoyed drawing and handicrafts. I began to learn patchwork with a local patchwork teacher when I was 10 years old. I have started making original artwork with my inspiration since 2013.
